Do you remember about the animated series “Jem and the Holograms” that ran from 1985 to 1988 for three season? Everybody does, I know and now we have great news about this animated series. This month started the shooting for the first movie of the series. Yes, you read well, Hasbro and Universal Studio have decided to create a movie around the adventures of Jem and her band. Jon M. Chu (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation“) will be the director of the film and who will be the star of the movie? I mean, who will be Jem?

The newbie Aubrey Peeples will portray the main protagonist of this upcoming movie. Yes, Layla Grant of ABC’s Nashville will be the new Jem, and her Holograms will be portrayed by other newbies: Stefanie Scott (“A.N.T. Farm“) will be Kimber, Hayley Kyoko (“The Fosters“) will be Aja and Aurora Perrineau (“Pretty Little Liars”) will be Shana.

And what about the other characters of the series? At the moment we know that Ryan Guzman (“Pretty Little Liars“) will be Rio so most of the characters of this movie will be newbies.

But the big news has come out some days ago. Two big star of the 80’s and the 90’s will join the cast of the movie in two unknown roles. The first one is the one and only Molly Ringwald. Yes, that’s right, Molly will be join the movie, the star of “The Breakfast Club“, “Pretty in Pink” and the more recent “The Secret Life of an American Teenager” will be part of the cast.

The second star to join the movie will be Juliette Lewis, the star of “From Dusk till Dawn“. The actress, who also is a singer in the rock band “Juliette and the Licks“, will be join the cast and I hope that she will give some rock elements or some rock style to the movie.

I have to admit that when I was young I didn’t watch “Jem and the Holograms” because I preferred “Transformers” but I start thinking that this movie will be great thanks to all these newbies and thanks to Juliette and Molly. I hope that others 80’s or 90’s stars will be join the cast of this movie because it will be simply epic.
