Since last week success of the Stephen Collins excursus we decided to proceed with these in depth on actors that deserve a special mention. Today is time to talk about the handsome Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

I  don’t know you, but the first time i saw this actor was in that masterpiece called “Bend it like Beckham“(2002) where Jonathan was acting with a young and blonde Keira Knightley.  Bend it like beckham

But the film that make it reach popularity is the 2005 Woody Allen’s one “Match Point” where he portrayed a tennis instructor having a secret affair with the sexy Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson).

Moreover he appeared also in film as Alexander (2004), Mission Impossible III (2006) and From Paris with love (2010) to name the popular ones.

Alexander: Rhys Meyers with Brad Pitt and Jared Leto Mission Impossible III: Rhys Meyers with Tom Cruise From Paris with love - Rhys Meyers, John Travolta and Virginie Silla

Jonathan started dedicated his time to TV series as well, and he started with The Tudors in 2007 (series ended with the 4th season in 2010). The series dedicated to the scandals of the reign of Henry VIII (portrayed by Rhys Meyers himself) had a lot of success among audience and critics.

And it is actually in this period that the actor have being suffering the most of alcoholism, causing him troubles with airline companies (he has been banned from flying with United Airlines). All this can be reconnected to death of the beloved mother in 2007. In fact, Jonathan, borns as Jonathan Michael Francis O’Keeffe, took his mother surname once his parents split up, and he’s being raised with her who had to took a special care of him since he was born with cardiological decease.

In February 2010 it seems that he attempted the suicide, but we are glad everything ended up in the best way possible.

The actor is now back on scenes with the new series Dracula (to follow the vampire trend that is still super popular among audience, but this time we are in the 19th century London) which premiered 25th October 2013 in the USA and 31st Octorber in the UK.

We wish you all the best Jonathan.
